In 2015, the Internet Society and CGI.br joined their efforts to create the Youth@IGF program aimed at training the next generation of leaders and increase the participation of young voices (aged 18-25) in the discussions on Internet Governance.
Since then, together with the NIC.MX partners, the Mexican government, Microsoft and Verizon, the Youth@IGF program has brought more than 160 young people from all over the world to IGF. As a result of these efforts, many young people are now contributing to the Youth Special Interest Group (Youth SIG) and regional meetings, such as the African Internet Summit, EuroDIG and others. In addition, some of the Youth @ IGF fellows have set up civil society organizations, such as Digital Grassroots. Also this year, the best candidates will have the opportunity to go to the IGF in Paris, France, from 12 to 14 November 2018.
