There are numerous initiatives for the European month dedicated to cybersecurity (CSM): GARR is also playing a key role, alongside the European research network GÉANT.

On the occasion of the European Cybersecurity Month (CSM), many initiatives are being organised to promote awareness of information security. GARR is actively participating in the campaign by the European network GÉANT and taking part in a series of seminars at the University of Parma. Let’s take a look at all the initiatives!

The European research network GÉANT is organising a campaign on social engineering titled “Your brain is the first line of defence!” Within this framework, GÉANT has set up a series of training activities, including webinars and online panels, delivered in English by security experts from the research community across Europe. Here’s the schedule of events.

• 3 October, 15:00-16:00: "An insider threat taxonomy, and mitigation strategies" with Dr. Karen Renaud (University of Strathclyde)
• 10 October, 15:00-16:00: "How to sell a fridge to a penguin – or make people fall for a phishing e-mail" with Prof. Dr. Kristin Weber (THWS)
• 17 October, 15:00-16:00: "Synthetic media verification in the era of generative AI: what works and what isn’t there yet" with Prof. Luisa Verdoliva (University of Naples Federico II)
• 24 October, 15:00-16:00: "Responsible and ethical use of AI: challenges and insights"with Andy Roebuck (GÉANT) and Floortje Jorna (SURF)

For the Italian community, the University of Parma is organising a series of seminars on cybersecurity.
