Registration Now Open for GARR Conference 2025
Registration is now open for the GARR Conference 2025, the annual event where experiences are shared on the use of digital infrastructures and services by those who rely on the GARR network and those who actively contribute to its development and the enhancement of its services.
This year’s edition, titled Digital Frontiers – Shared and Independent Infrastructures for the Future of Research, will take place at the University of Bari from 13 to 15 May, preceded by a training day.
Over the three days of the conference, key topics will be explored to delve into the latest innovations and their impact on scientific research and education.
The first day will be dedicated to the evolution of telecommunications infrastructures in Italy, featuring a panel discussion with experts. In the afternoon, we will examine the state of infrastructures for universities and research through an institutional roundtable with representatives from major organisations connected to the GARR network.
The second day will open with a session on the frontiers of research infrastructures: we will connect to the most remote continent, Antarctica, and explore satellite connectivity for research. Afterwards, we will dive into the ocean depths with the European SENSEI sensing project.
We will also discuss AI technology applied to research. In the cybersecurity session, we will explore the topic of cyber warfare and present the SERICS project.
The session on digital identity will provide an update on the status of digital identities in Europe, and we will also address the issue of digital rights.
The third day will focus on the evolution of computing for research, with a discussion on urgent computing. In the final session, dedicated to data, sharing, and protection, we’ll explore a fascinating case study on the use of AI for archaeology and security.
