Skills4EOSC
The main goal of the project is to coordinate a network of competence centres at the national, regional, and thematic levels for the development of skills necessary to practice open science, apply FAIR principles in research results management, and participate in the European Open Science Cloud. The consortium includes 44 institutions in 18 countries, among beneficiaries and third parties. The project proposal marks the first initiative where 10 Italian institutions participate, representing the national effort in this endeavor.
ICSC
ICSC is one of the 5 National centres established by the NRRP, Next Generation EU. A unique project in Europe, it aims to create an ecosystem dedicated to all computing needs for research and industrial applications. ICSC is organised with a central hub and several spokes to cover various thematic areas. GARR is among the initiative's partners and is involved, in enhancing the GARR-T network, in the "Supercomputing Cloud Infrastructure" spoke. This spoke is responsible for managing and coordinating the infrastructure of HPC (High-Performance Computing) and Big Data systems at the national level and is cross-cutting across all other thematic areas.
TeRABIT
TeRABIT is a research infrastructure funded through NRRP, Next Generation EU funds. The objective is to propose a development in the models of usage and access to High Performance Computing (HPC), offering cutting-edge solutions for the Italian scientific community and network connections in the order of Terabits per second. The project integrates and enhances three major national strategic research infrastructures: the national research network GARR-T, the HPC node PRACE-Italy at OGS, located at CINECA, and the distributed cloud services system HPC-BD-AI of INFN.
ICDI
ICDI (Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure) is the national initiative for the Open Science Cloud, created by leading Italian research institutions with the aim of promoting synergies at the national level to strengthen Italy's participation in EOSC.
ICDI brings together experts from major research infrastructures and national digital infrastructures, including the national nodes of large ESFRI infrastructures. The goal is to promote the transition to the Open Science paradigm and the dissemination of FAIR data management practices, finding solutions for their sharing and reuse, and creating new knowledge based on data.
EaPConnect phase 2
GÉANT- GN5-1
GN5-1 aims to provide a faster, more resilient, and secure connectivity infrastructure, along with collaboration services, to facilitate researchers' and students' access to programs that promote effective collaboration among virtual research teams worldwide. The project will address Horizon Europe priorities in areas such as data security, access control, and technological innovation. It aims to expand the user base of research and education networks (NRENs) beyond traditional scientific and research communities, enabling connection and access to the European data space.
GÉANT- GN5- IC1
GN5-IC1 envisions a new plan and implementation for an intercontinental connectivity investment program aimed at addressing the growing demand for network capacity. The main goal is to drive a transformation in scientific and computational digital infrastructures for the next 10-15 years. The project will contribute to ensuring sufficient capacity through acquisitions and link implementations during the project or through a strategy for future investments.
GÉANT- GN5-FPA
Within the 7-year strategic framework GN5-FPA, GÉANT aims to enhance connectivity and services for research in Europe, bridging the gap between developed and less developed regions. The goal is to provide secure, cost-effective, highly available, and reliable services for high-speed connectivity, identity inter-federation, mobility, trust & identity services, and solutions.
GÉANT-GN4-3N
GN4 Phase 3 Network is an ambitious 60-month project aimed at restructuring the European backbone of the GÉANT research network to extend and enhance network and cloud service access to European users, regardless of their location. The goal is to improve the capacity, resilience, reliability, and flexibility of the GÉANT network and provide access to high-capacity networking, thereby contributing to reducing the digital divide.
