SENSEI

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

The project aims to develop innovative tools and methodologies for using fibre optic telecommunication networks as distributed sensors to detect disturbances in the environments where the fibre infrastructure is deployed. It introduces advanced photonic techniques to measure fibre optic cable deformation through interferometry, employing low-phase-noise lasers integrated on chips, thereby making detection systems more compact, cost-effective, and scalable.

GÉANT GN5-2

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

GN5-2 represents a significant evolution in the connectivity infrastructure for research and education throughout Europe. The project aims to provide faster, more resilient, and secure services, with a particular emphasis on the innovation of collaborative services, digital identity federation, and the expansion of access to research networks.

Skills4EOSC

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

The main goal of the project is to coordinate a network of competence centres at the national, regional, and thematic levels for the development of skills necessary to practice open science, apply FAIR principles in research results management, and participate in the European Open Science Cloud. The consortium includes 44 institutions in 18 countries, among beneficiaries and third parties. The project proposal marks the first initiative where 10 Italian institutions participate, representing the national effort in this endeavor.

ICSC

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

ICSC is one of the 5 National centres established by the NRRP, Next Generation EU. A unique project in Europe, it aims to create an ecosystem dedicated to all computing needs for research and industrial applications. ICSC is organised with a central hub and several spokes to cover various thematic areas. GARR is among the initiative's partners and is involved, in enhancing the GARR-T network, in the "Supercomputing Cloud Infrastructure" spoke. This spoke is responsible for managing and coordinating the infrastructure of HPC (High-Performance Computing) and Big Data systems at the national level and is cross-cutting across all other thematic areas.

TeRABIT

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

TeRABIT is a research infrastructure funded through NRRP, Next Generation EU funds. The objective is to propose a development in the models of usage and access to High Performance Computing (HPC), offering cutting-edge solutions for the Italian scientific community and network connections in the order of Terabits per second. The project integrates and enhances three major national strategic research infrastructures: the national research network GARR-T, the HPC node PRACE-Italy at OGS, located at CINECA, and the distributed cloud services system HPC-BD-AI of INFN.

ICDI

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

ICDI (Italian Computing and Data Infrastructure) is the national initiative for the Open Science Cloud, created by leading Italian research institutions with the aim of promoting synergies at the national level to strengthen Italy's participation in EOSC.

ICDI brings together experts from major research infrastructures and national digital infrastructures, including the national nodes of large ESFRI infrastructures. The goal is to promote the transition to the Open Science paradigm and the dissemination of FAIR data management practices, finding solutions for their sharing and reuse, and creating new knowledge based on data.

EaPConnect phase 2

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects
Launched in July 2015, the Eastern Partnership Connect (EaPConnect) project aims to establish and manage a high-speed broadband internet network for research and education in the six partner countries of the Eastern Partnership in Eastern Europe: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine. The project seeks to integrate the national research and education networks (NRENs) into the pan-European GÉANT network, reduce the digital divide, facilitate the participation of scientists, students, and academics in international collaborations, implement eduroam, and promote integration with GÉANT services.

GÉANT- GN5- IC1

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

GN5-IC1 envisions a new plan and implementation for an intercontinental connectivity investment program aimed at addressing the growing demand for network capacity. The main goal is to drive a transformation in scientific and computational digital infrastructures for the next 10-15 years. The project will contribute to ensuring sufficient capacity through acquisitions and link implementations during the project or through a strategy for future investments.

GÉANT- GN5-FPA

| Consortium GARR | Ongoing Projects

Within the 7-year strategic framework GN5-FPA, GÉANT aims to enhance connectivity and services for research in Europe, bridging the gap between developed and less developed regions. The goal is to provide secure, cost-effective, highly available, and reliable services for high-speed connectivity, identity inter-federation, mobility, trust & identity services, and solutions.
