Lise Fuhr is the new CEO of GÉANT
GÉANT has appointed its new Chief Executive Officer: Danish national Lise Fuhr will take over the leadership of the organisation, succeeding Erik Huizer on 21 November 2024, to head the European network dedicated to education and research.
Lise Fuhr has had a long career as Director General of ETNO, the Brussels-based association representing Europe’s leading telecommunications operators. She has also held prominent roles such as Chair of the Danish cybersecurity organisation “Security Tech Space” and participation in the Leadership Panel of the United Nations Internet Governance Forum. Among her other experiences, she has been a board member of the European Cyber Security Organisation (ECSO) and chaired the boards of Public Interest Registry and Public Technical Identifiers.
With over 20 years of experience in the internet, technology, and telecommunications sectors, Lise Fuhr joins GÉANT with a strong foundation of expertise and a keen interest in innovation and technology. “I am honoured to succeed Erik Huizer and grateful to the Board for this opportunity,” Fuhr commented. “I look forward to supporting the research and education community.”
