Newly established Technical Scientific Committee of GARR
Today marked the first meeting of the newly appointed Technical Scientific Committee (TSC) of GARR, the advisory body of the Board of Directors that formulates operational proposals and contributes to defining the organisation’s activity programmes. The committee will serve a three-year term until June 2027.
The new composition is diverse and extensive, comprising 19 members, including researchers and experts from leading Italian research institutions and universities. Professor Angelo Scribano has been reappointed as the chair of the committee. The new team includes nine new members: Tommaso Boccali and Alessandro Brunengo from INFN, Claudio Cicconetti, Ivan Duca, and Ermann Ripepi from CNR, Marco Landoni from INAF, Giulio Selvaggi from INGV, Enrico Venuto from the Politecnico di Torino, and Rocco De Nicola, Rector of IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca.
Among the returning members are Massimo Celino and Giovanni Ponti (ENEA), Claudio Grandi and Stefano Zani (INFN), Laura Leone (Sapienza University of Rome), Marcello Maggiora (Compagnia di San Paolo Sistema Torino), Gianluca Mazzini (University of Ferrara and Lepida), as well as two pioneers of the GARR network, Enzo Valente and Fernando Liello.
“It is a great privilege for me to chair the Technical Scientific Committee for so many years,” commented Angelo Scribano. “GARR is a very dynamic entity, and the TSC has consistently guided and supported choices that reflect this innovative spirit and the organisation’s values. I am confident that the new composition will do this with renewed vigour, best representing the Italian academic and scientific community.”
GARR President, Maurizio Tira, extended his best wishes to the members of the new Technical Scientific Committee. “In thanking those who have worked in the TSC over the years, we are pleased to welcome so many new individuals to the organisation,” the President remarked. “Listening to and integrating diverse perspectives and disciplines will enable us to tackle the complex technological and organisational challenges of the future more effectively. The high level of expertise within the TSC will be crucial in ensuring that GARR’s strategic decisions align with the evolving needs of the research and education community for network and infrastructural services.”
